Environmental Education Field Trips

For over 15 years, Holliday Park has provided unique field trip opportunities for thousands of students and scouts to learn about Indiana’s natural and cultural resources. Whether you’re a teacher, homeschooler, or scout leader, we have a program to meet your needs.

 

Field Trip Options for Schools and Scout Groups

Environmental EdVentures Programs: Pre-K through Fifth Grade — Ideal for teachers looking to fulfill specific academic requirements or to reinforce a lesson from the classroom. After an introduction to the topic, naturalists will guide students on an experiential hike.

  • One-hour program, $4/student. Discounted rates available
  • Fifty students maximum per program
  • Programs correlated to state standards, pre- and post-trip activities and teacher resources available
  • Extend the experience by spending time in our interactive exhibit hall, bringing a picnic lunch, or enjoying the playground and trails

Outdoor Ecology Program: Third through Fifth Grade — A more in-depth experience designed to provide students a deeper understanding of ecosystems, diversity and the scientific method. Students will be challenged to work together as they compare and contrast three habitat types found in Holliday Park.

  • Three-hour program (plus one-hour for lunch), $6/student
  • Sixty students maximum per program
  • Activities engage students’ creativity and fulfill multiple academic standards
  • Pre-and post-trip activities and teacher resources available

Additional Programs: Scout Groups, Homeschools and Other Educators — Custom programs designed to complement almost any environmental topic, Scout badge requirement, etc.

  • One-hour program, $4/child
  • Fifty children maximum per program
  • Can be scheduled during school hours, as an after-school program or on Sunday afternoons, subject to availability

Transportation Funding

We understand that transportation costs can often be the limiting factor when it comes to educators being able to provide field trip opportunities for their students. That is why Friends of Holliday Park is pleased to offer a funding program to help cover the transportation costs for those educators who might not otherwise be able to attend.

Program Registration

To register or for additional details regarding any of the field trip programs offered, call 327-7180 to speak with Holliday Park staff. As the calendar does fill, please call at least one month prior to the trip. When calling, be prepared with the following information:

  • Program Title
  • Approximate number of students and adults
  • Program date, time and at least one alternative
  • Contact information
